Does he like me?

Watch what he does more than what he says. If he makes plans and keeps them, remembers what you tell him, and checks in when you go quiet, he likes you. Fast replies and long chats feel good, but on their own they're easy to give.

Signs he likes you

  • He makes plans, and they happen.
  • He remembers small things you told him.
  • He checks in when you go quiet.
  • He's the same with you around his friends.
  • He asks about your life, and not only about seeing you.
  • He makes time for you when he's busy.

Does he like me, or is he just being nice?

Someone who's being nice is friendly to everyone in about the same way. Someone who likes you makes a special effort for you. He starts conversations, makes plans and remembers the details. If he treats you the way he treats everyone else, he's probably being nice.

Does he like me more than a friend?

Friends text and spend time together too, so look for what goes beyond that. He wants time alone with you, he follows up when you've had a hard day, and he suggests plans for just the two of you.

Texting a lot isn't the same as liking you

Texting a lot is attention, and attention is easy to give. Effort costs something, like time, planning and showing up. When someone likes you, you see the effort as well as the attention.

What if it's all in my head?

It's easy to read too much into one good day. Look at the last 2 or 3 weeks as a whole, and ask yourself honestly whether you're reading his behaviour through what you hope is true, or through what you actually see.

What to do if you like him

If you like him, you can make it easy for him by being warm and saying yes when he asks you out. Or you can suggest a plan yourself. For example:

I'd love to see you this weekend. Are you free on Saturday?

Either way, you'll learn more from how he answers a real plan than from any text.
